Mr. Edun, if your plan for improving Nigeria's economic prospects is ''China investments", you have a failing strategy. First, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that foreign investment could not be useful, even important and necessary. I'm only emphasizing that the most important investment [by far] to improve Nigeria's economic portfolio is indigenous – domestic investment, not any foreign investment. Second, quite unfortunately, your current tax-and-spend policies, the extant humongous corruption and immiseration of citizens across board, the increasingly hostile ease-of-doing-business environment, made worse by excessive red tape/expanding bureaucracy, as well as spiraling insecurity nationwide, have dimmed, if not literally shut down any prospects of domestic investments. Third, the profligate, self-indulgent and sybaritic attitudes displayed by this administration and its officials, in an environment that calls for somber sacrifice and compassionate leadership, are not capable of inspiring the confidence necessary for attracting domestic or foreign investors. Even if China comes to invest, the motif is take-away profit not improving Nigeria's economic portfolio or prospects. No nation is in the business of empowering its potential rivals and/or competitors, every nation is in it for itself. The fatal disease of black African leaders is this absurd belief that external forces and alien interventions are necessary and dependable factors for the economic growth and development of their countries. Sorry Mr. Edun, external interventions are neither compelling nor reliable for nation growth and development, they're not. Not China, not America, not Europe, or any other exogenous power is going to improve Nigeria's lot. Only Nigerians can achieve that – with smart, comprehensive and transformational political, economic and social planning, with focused and sustained execution of the plan, with the combination of sweat and sacrifice of both leaders and followers [not one side alone]. Ceteris paribus, or everything being equal, as economists say, that could salvage Nigeria from its current place of shame, leading first, to economic recovery, second, to sustainable growth, and ultimately, to lasting stability, prosperity and development.
