The Nigeria First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, yesterday presented the sum of N50 million empowerment grants to 1,000 women petty traders in Nasarawa State.

The Nigeria First Lady’s gesture to the Nasarawa women petty traders was an empowerment grants from the Renewed Hope Initiative of the federal government.

The Nasarawa State First Lady, Hajiya Silifat Sule, presented the empowerment grants to the petty women traders, cutting across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state, on behalf of Senator Oluremi Tinubu in the Government House, Lafia.

Speaking at the event tagged “Renewed Hope Initiative Economic Empowerment Programme Recapitalization Grants for 1,000 Women Petty Traders”, the Nigerian First Lady said women of Nasarawa State have had another opportunity to hold it dearly and use it well.

She said: “We are here again given the petty traders the sum of N50,000 each. We want you to use this money wisely. Be able to differentiate between capital and profit.

“So, for the petty traders and all that we are stretching out to and other beneficiaries, we are always here thinking about one project or the other on how do we help the woman? With what is happening in the economy, we all know everything is tight for now, but we will laugh at the end of the day by the grace of God”.

She however advised the beneficiaries to use the money wisely.

“Through the Renewed Hope initiative, N50 million was allocated to empower 1,000 petty traders across the 13 Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State. Each of the beneficiaries will go home with N50,000,” the Nigerian First Lady explained.
