Navy Redeploys 24 Rear Admirals, Seven Commodores in Minor Shake-up

The Nigerian Navy, yesterday, reshuffled the appointments of top senior officers comprising 24 Rear Admirals and seven Commodores in what has been deemed a minor shake up.

This was the first collective redeployment  by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla,since last June after the major appointments that set the tone for his administration.

In the shake up, Rear Admiral Olusanya Bankole formerly Chief of Communications and Information Technology, Naval Headquarters, was redeployed to the Defence Headquarters as DHQ – D DEF Cooperative while Rear Admiral Ibrahim Dewu, formerly Chief of Defence Civil Military Cooperation, Defence Headquarters is now the  (NASS) – Chief of Naval Safety and Standards.

Rear Admiral Livingstone Izu, who was the Chief of Logistics, Naval Headquarters has now been redeployed as Admiral Superintendent Naval Ordinance Depot (ASNOD) while Rear Admiral Musa Madugu formally at ASNOD was redeployed to NHQ (ADMIN) as Director of Admin (DOA).

Rear Admiral ZS Muhammad was appointed as NHQ (CIT) – CCIT and Rear Admiral Saheed Akinwade was moved to Eastern Naval Command (ENC) as the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC).

Also, Rear Admiral Istifanus Albara was appointed FOC Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) while Rear Admiral OK Oluwagbire was moved from HQ ENC  to NHQ (LOG) – COL.

In the same vein, Rear Admiral Olusegun Ferreira was moved from HQ OPDS  to  NHQ (TOPS) as Chief of Training and Operations (CTOPS) while Rear Admiral B Iyalla moved from Headquarters Logistics Command to NHQ (TRANS) as  DNTRANS.

Not left out was Rear Admiral PC Nwatu, who was moved from NAVTRAC as FOC to NHQ as Naval Secretary (NAVSEC) while Rear Admiral AM Haruna was redeployed from HQ ENC to NHQ (PPLANS) as D POL.

Rear Admiral JN Mamman was redeployed from HQ WNC  to NHQ (TOPS) as  DOT while Rear Admiral JU Okeke was moved from HQ CNC to HQ OPDS  as COMD.

Similarly, Rear Admiral C Onyemaobi moved from NHQ to HQ LOC as the FOC; Rear Admiral PK Zakaria moved from HQ LOC to NHQ (NASS) as D AUDIT while Rear Admiral PS Anabraba was redeployed from NWCN – NHQ (TOPS) as DOPS.

Rear Admiral SD Atakpa was redeployed from NAVTRAC to NHQ (NAVSEC) as D MAN; Rear Admiral A Baba-Inna was moved from NHQ to HQ WNC as CSO; Rear Admiral AA MUSTAPHA was redeployed from NHQ to HQ LOC as CSO.

Rear Admiral OO Soyemi was moved from NHQ to HQ CNC as CSO while Rear Admiral EA Zipele was redeployed from NHQ to HQ ENC as CSO.

Finally on the list was Rear Admiral AO Ayo-Vaughan, who has held away the Directorate of Information of the Nigerian Navy, giving it drive and telling  its stories. He has been redeployed to HQ NAVTRAC as the CSO.

For the commodores, MY Abba was moved from NHQ  to DELTA as COMD while Commodore M Fakrogha was moved from HQ NAVDOC to JUBILEE as COMD.

Commodore M Ide from JUBILEE  was moved to NWCN as DY COMDT; Commodore Kolawale O. Oguntuga was moved from NNS BEECROFT as its commandeer to NHQ as PSO to the Chief of Naval Staff.

Taking over from Oguntuga is Commodore RT Oladejo, who was redeployed from NHQ to head NNS BEECROFT while Commodore CU Yahaya was moved from Delta to NHQ (NAVSEC) as DPR

Finally, in this category, was Commodore E A Adams-Aliu,who was moved from his appointment at NHQ R’ APPT PPLANS to become the Director of Naval Information (DINFO).
