Nigeria is badly managed simply because those in authority do not report to the citizens, and the citizens serial fail to react appropriately when they actually concoct something that appear to be a report of the (mis)deeds .

I shuddered the day I skimmed through the latest Audited NNPCL Annual Report . Nothing is more indicting of the leadership of the Nigerian oil company more than the disclosures and non disclosures in this report . I’ve avoided a deeper read of the report to stave off heart palpitations that will certainly come up by going through the document knowing the consequences of the misfortunes of the country for Nigeria and its poor folks .

Most painful of the revelations is that NNPCL with a world class asset of $227bn only made a “profit” of about $2bn or 1% of the value of asset .

Regrettably, the major shareholders largely the FG , NASS , state governments and all other critical stakeholders have remain mute over the NNPCL annual report . Perhaps they have not read the report !

Obviously , Nigeria deserve far more from the NNPCL . The earlier we agree that the NNPCL is a behemoth and a international Oil Company ,the better for Nigeria and our national prosperity. This company is really bigger than a parastatal of the presidency and much bigger than Mele Kyari and his likes running the show . NNPCL need to be independent and run professionally ASAP for our collective good !
