Why would any adult in Nigeria between 1983 and 1986 put the words – ”capable” and ”Buhari” together?

You must be full of yourself. Who are those scrambling for everything Igbo? What is inside Igbo women that is not in other women? These Agaracha women???

UmuPHC, words get new meanings in Nigeria indeed. Yaradua who knew that he was dead sick but committed suicide due to greed is incorrigible! Other twisted words and persons are Bubuhari (a common thief) as Mr. integrity. Thiefnubu (head of agberos) as master tactician. Gowon (a murderer) as gentleman. Dan fodio, the first terrorist as northern icon etc.

The "missteps" of your "best" president Yar' Adua/SLS was "reducing" foreign reserves from $65b to $45b, causing Boko Haram to come into existence, & planting/entrenching north-south/muslim-christian divide that destroyed trust among nigerians. But Jonathan's "crime against humanity" was cluelessness that led to loss of $8bn in subsidy, the emergence of "state governors" that became so powerful & rich that they could enthrone presidents, & above all, making "you" create Buhari & Tinubu…

Jonathan was perceived to be the face of the usual people & the world went mad because of it! It was indeed the main reason nigerians went berserk, especially those whose other way of giving expression to their inferiority complex & envy for the Igbo is scrambling for everything Igbo, especially Igbo women. By the way, at the time he held sway they were also pouring their bile on the very Soludo you are here praising! It was them who set the stage for Yar' Adua to shove him aside.

Their bile & bad press against Jonathan, coupled with distraction from the Boko Haram you talked about, indeed made the country ungovernable for GEJ. In spite of that he made great achievements!

By the way, do you know how much was stolen during Yar' Adua's incapacitation, i.e., because he was clinging to power when he was terminally sick? Of course Buhari never disclosed it, just as the amount APC spent fighting the 2015 election was never spent. Practically only Jonathan & Buahri's records have been exposed. We knew what happened when a house committe wanted to expose the corruption under OBJ…

While you find fault with Yar' Adua clinging to power, you can at least give Jonathan credit for not attempting to cling to do that too!

We need God to guide us and bless whatever steps we take ….

Yar Adua remain my favourite president simply for his sincerity ( even when taking a wrong decision) and his incorruptibility while in office . Nevertheless, some certain innocent acts of omission and commission precipitated the downward spiral of our politics , polity and prosperity.

Yar Adua’s first misstep was not to grant prof Soludo a second and last tenure at the CBN . Soludo had just finished a successful reengineering of the national banking system , and was the best person to now mould the banking sector in his vision following the consolidation after recapitalization of the banks . Regrettably, prof Soludo was shoved aside and SLS appointed instead . Yar Adua / SLS inherited a foreign of about $65bn . This was reduced to almost $45bn by the time GEJ took over the reigns . SLS chose to use the foreign reserve to “defend “ the naira during the global financial meltdown and also to fund the Yar Adua administration . It’s doubtful if Prof Soludo would have taken such steps , but what is clear is that Nigeria blew $25bn in a relatively short period with nothing much to show for it . This obvious huge decline in our forex reserve signaled the beginning of our financial woes .

The second significant misstep by Yar Adua was the poor handling of the Yusuf saga that triggered the Boko Haram insurgency in Bornu state . The hitherto peaceful northern Nigeria has not known peace since then . Obviously, the the religious sect wouldn’t have turned to an insurgency had Mohammed Yusuf was not extra judicially exterminated.

And the last significant misstep was not to have resigned as President when he still could before his illness took the better of him leaving the presidency to be controlled by invisible individuals and his wife . This destroyed trust and exacerbated the north-south Muslim -Christian divide in the polity . This had serious effect on politics and our democracy till date .

Of course GEJ out of clueless and weakness allowed the treasury and economy to be decimated . The FG became a a jamboree spending all including excess crude oil fund and paying subsidy to ghost companies to the tune of $8bn . State governors were on a looting spree such that the likes of Ameachi and Akpabio became so rich and powerful enough to determine who becomes president. The economy actually collapsed under GEJ with oil production plummeting due to lack of reinvestment.

To crown it all , GEJ can be held for creating a Wike and the Buhari APC government. His clueless, corrupt and poor governance drive Nigerians to embrace what we thought was a capable Gen Mohammadu Buhari , and the country paid dearly for it .

You are the one serving up a distraction. Even GEJ himself, beyond making the rounds like he did last year, does not fancy himself remotely capable of taking on Asiwaju.
Study your acclaimed ‘power monger ‘. You suppose that a man so constituted strove for power merely for jets and petrodollar? Power mongering at that level is made of sterner stuff than mere hedonism. You do not squander such political capital, merely for new jets; do not be crass. To stake one’s presidency on an economy-based gamble, takes the highest form of political courage.
Rather than those northern vultures appreciate someone with the balls to do what they can’t, they try to stymie him with ridiculous moves like a GEJ run.
They had better pray that Asiwaju succeeds, for their own sakes.

The Second Republic many not have been as good as the First, but it was not terrible. The situation has been all hell since Buhari and his boys took over from Shagari.

Jonathan can not be accused of good leadership in the strict sense of it despite having a good heart. However, he was better for democracy than all his counterparts since 1984. Democracy is not perfect despite being the best form of government available. It allows the people, the real owners of democratic power, to correct their mistakes.

When voters realised their 2015 blunder, they rejected Buhari four years later, but he refused to leave office. The same backward forces were at play in 2023 when voters resoundingly rejected Tinubu and APC. Even if Tinubu performs worse, far worse than Buhari, don 't bet on him leaving office in 2027. To the extent that there is no unity of purpose by the WHOLE populace (not only South or only North) to strongly oppose such election riggings, the criminal gang that controls the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary will continue to have their way, and the result will continue to be a laughable Nigeria. Every society reflects the quality of its political leadership.

It would have been different if the mandate stealers could do even an average job like the Mbah chap is doing in Enugu State. What is difficult to swallow is what Buhari continued to do with the mandate he stole in 2019, and what Tinubu is doing with the one he stole in 2023. Uzodinma is doing the same thing in Imo. It is not different in many other states. A certain clown by the name of Kalu, an Abia Fed House Member, is said to be threatening the governorship of Alex Otti simply because the Gov is doing a good job. Recall that had it not been for the patriotism of the local INEC agent, that FUTO officer, Ikpeazu would have installed a fellow criminal, and Mahmood Yakubu would have okayed it. This idiot in the House is now threatening to use federal might to manipulate the election better in 2027.

Without a proper enforcement of the current Electoral Act, a worse Tinubu or an equivalent candidate can and will continue the retrogression beyond this presidential term.

I have said all of this to tell this forum that stakeholders can strategize all they want regarding 2027, but as long as Tinubu maintains his corrupt grip on INEC, the Judiciary and the Legislature,, he will give voters the middle finger again if they reject him or his party. .

They simply traded places with the SW – now left at the back seats of the gravy train, looking up the pork-juicy high table that the lucky Awolokans now perch upon, suffering from the frustrations of waiting for the crumbs of the juicy pork to drop from the big table they had literally preserved for their exclusive occupancy, especially under Buhari's rule of the kith and the kin. And poor clueless, harmless, spineless Jonathan, he'll happily offer himself as the distraction in a vile game of thrones and principalities he'll never comprehend.

On the side of our clueless/spineless GEJ falling for the northern bait, you're smack on point. On the side of Nigeria's democracy and economy dissembling under Yar'Adua/GEJ, you need to provide proof. Finally, your prayer ''God save us all'' is misplaced, God is not coming to save anyone – only we – you, I and the rest citizens can decide to save or sink Nigeria.

Tellingly , the real irony here is the fact that GEJ will lend his ears to such conspiracy and actually think he can be president once more through the benevolence of the norther power group , and actual govern the country well to lead Nigeria out of the current quagmire !

Truth be told , the derailment of our democracy started during the Yar Adua / GEJ era , and the greatest setbacks to political and economic development suffered by Nigeria occurred in the period 2010-2015 – GEJ was president all the while .

Undoubtedly, it is the height of cluelessness for GEJ to consider himself the candidate for president and the leader for the salvation of our much battered Nigeria . God save us all !
