I suppose the most fundamental and critical task before us if Nigeria must develop is birthing and operating a Functional Democracy first . To rely on the current form of government and assume that anything good can come out of it considering the clear dismal results of decades of “ democratic governance “ is to live in denial . What we currently have is civil rule inspired by military rule . It’s neither a functional democracy nor a sustainable system of government capable of moving Nigeria to the promised land .

Pursuit of policies and production of tons of policy papers will not serve any good as long as the political class remain undemocratic in the real sense and government is by a collection of tradesmen after spoils of office and profit over their ‘investments ’. Essentially, the existing political class must die for a new tribe of politicians to be born . The immediate task therefore is winning elections to and forming government. Every effort therefore need to be concentrated towards this strategic task . It is only after that the new tribe can be unveiled . Clearly the task is not only challenging but quite daunting !
