We need to tackle insecurity so we can deliver agricultural products.
then we need to add value to those products which can't happen without power. The cost of power is expensive when placed side by side with our minimum wage. That also needs to be addressed. The cost of one unit of power is high due to the corruption and inefficiency the white men who work for TCN charge.
thank God for all these soft industries that have kept us busy and productive, if not for Nollywood, beting etc what would we have done with ourselves.
i agree we need to move to production of substances. Well thought out and a good easy.

Once the military governments tasted free, apparently inexhaustible petrodollars from a weak neck of the Nigerian woods, the newly conquered Niger delta of the defunct Eastern region in the 1970s, all the transformational national and regional development plans that used to propel the bumper production of groundnuts, cotton, textiles, cocoa, palm oil, kernel, rubber, grains etc., were thrown out the window. Production of agricultural produce and tangible manufactured goods gave way to brief-case businesses and contracts peddling, and a once robust and competitive economy went from coma and life support to virtual death. The IBB SAP, Donald Duke pivot to tourism, the rise of Nollywood were all mere events that in normal circumstances could not in any way be mutually exclusive of agricultural, manufacturing and industrial production. All these abridged narratives of where the rain started to beat Nigeria is meant to avoid the inevitable – return of federalism in a regional setting. We must admit that unitary rule has failed woefully, and restart from there.

But the problem is that you need reliable power supply to be competitive in manufacturing. It is difficult to compete with China, and many other Asian countries, in the production of manufactured goods, while running your factory on a diesel generator

So, Nigeria should focus on producing goods, and services, that it has a competitive advantage on. Including, oil, gas, palm oil, cocoa, rubber, sorghum, cassava, yam, peanuts, cashew, maize, cattle, goat, chicken, fish, fruits, vegetables, movies, music, art, Nigerian fashion, furniture, cement, sugar, flour, salt, refined petroleum products, etc

If we improve on the quantity, and quality, of the products that we have a competitive advantage on, we will be just fine.
