The Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) State Chairmen has resolved to meet President Bola Tinubu and the party’s national leadership over the current economic hardship.
Addressing a press conference yesterday in Abuja, the Forum Chairman and Secretary, Cornelius Ojelabi and Alphonsus Eba, said they had resolved to have a close-door meetings with the leadership of National Working Committee (NWC) and government.
The Forum particularly commended the party’s NWC under the leadership of Abdullahi Ganduje, for extending the tenure of the Tony Okocha-led Rivers State Caretaker Executive Committee.
Ojelabi said: “On the hardship experienced in the country, we know that everybody has been complaining and we are not unaware of that.
“We are going to have a closed-door meeting with the party on one side and the federal government, but until the meeting is held and matters advised, it will be premature to talk to the media on the issues. Rest assured that in no distant time, you will hear the outcome of our meeting.
“We met to discuss issues that are of great concern to the party’s democratic ethos and the success of our APC-led administration under the able leadership of President Tinubu and his dependable Vice President Kashim Shettima.
“While the Forum has resolved to have close-door meetings with the leadership of NWC and government, we considered it necessary to discuss the recent action of the NWC under the leadership of Ganduje with respect to the extensions granted to the caretaker committee of Rivers state APC-led by Tony Okocha.”
“This press briefing will be followed with a commendation letter to the national chairman of our great party in appreciation of his firm stance on the decision of the APC Rivers State Executive Committee which suspended the erstwhile executive of Emeka Beke and who was further restrained by Rivers State High Court.”
