Nigerians are there own worst enemies. Though truly, the side effects of the government economic policies are hurting but largely necessary to correct decades long dislocations.

For example, on average, 80% of prepaid electric meter users engage in electricity theft individually amounting to roughly 6,000 hours yearly. Thereby denying the Discos about $2 billion in revenue conservatively. Imagine the impact of this financial war chest in hands of the government in tacking electricity issues.

Yet Nigerians turn around to blame the Discos and the government of not providing electricity and jerking up the tariffs. Only EKEDC and IKEDC in Lagos are solvent among all the Disco's in the country.

We have a warped sense of entitlement.

However, the government needs to tackle insecurity so that farmers can have peace of mind to go to their farms as well as deal with waste and corruption in government. The waste and stealing permeates all strata of the economy!

Let us buy what we can produce in the country rather than continue with senseless importation and rent seeking .
