For emphasis Sir, FDIs can only be useful supplements to, and not a substitute for, robust domestic investment. It's the latter, domestic investment, especially in real sectors that hardly attract Foreign investors, that determines whether or not, a country's economy grows, thrives and develops in a balanced and sustainable manner. In the meantime, the business environment your administration has further advanced is quite hostile to local investors, and no wonder that new business start-ups have become virtually nonexistent. It bears reminding our rulers that, for numerous reasons, dependency on foreign investment as the main driver of economic performance has been the bane of African economies. And frankly, Nigeria's experience of this strategy should have been a lesson learned since 1999 when previous Presidents spent so much time and exorbitant resources in foreign capitals in search, they claimed, of FDIs. In this particular instance Mr. President, Coca Cola is not actually importing new money into Nigeria, it's only reinvesting a fraction of its huge profits in a market it still enjoys near-monopoly dominance. Let's develop a little more confidence in ourselves – make the necessary sacrifice, put in the work, reduce the volume of corruption and profligate self-indulgent spending, invest much of the savings thereof in the real sector, and watch the economy grow exponentially, and FDIs pouring in as a result.
